April 13, 1934 PASSED AWAY SUNDAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS Edward Cave Resident of this Vicinity More Than Half Century. Many Years Employed by L.O. Canning Co. Edward Cave, who has been in poor health for several months past, died at his home on Tupper Lake street early Sunday evening. Mr. Cave, who was nearly sixty-three years old, has resided in this vicinity more than fifty-eight years, his parents having moved here from northern Ohio and settled at the site of the Bipple farm, three miles north of town in 1875. Twenty-four years ago they moved into town and have lived here since. Mr. Cave was one of the oldest men, in point of service, at the Lake Odessa canning company plant, he having helped to get the building in order and to set the machinery. At one time he was shipping clerk there but later years has worked in the plant as a millwright. Rev. G.J. conducted funeral services which were held Wednesday afternoon in the home. Messrs. Merlin Morgan, Leon Gilson, George Kart, William Chipchase and Morley Hough furnished the music. Interment was in Lakeside cemetery. The loss of Mr. Cave marks the passing of a wonderful man, a good neighbor, and patriotic citizen. OBITUARY Edward James Cave was born August 28, 1871, in Van Wert county, Ohio and died July 8, 1934. He was the son of the late Israel and Margaret Cave. In 1875 he came to Michigan with his father who settled three miles north of Lake Odessa. He was united in marriage to miss Ella Hummel in 1892. He spent the remainder of his life in Ionia county residing in Lake Odessa for 24 years. He is survived by the wife, one son Claude of Lake Odessa, and one daughter Mrs.Dale Hynes, at home; four brothers, Will of Menden, Mich. Frank of Middleville, Hal of Chicago, Charles of Fallbrook, Cal., and one sister Mrs.Watkins of Chicago. Three brothers have preceded Mr. Cave in death. He was a loving husband and father and friendly neighbor and will be missed by a host of relatives and friends.
