May 30, 2018 FRANK CEDERWALL, 93 Frank Arvid Cederwall, 93, passed away in his sleep early Saturday morning, May 26, 2018, in Greenville, Michigan. He was born July 14, 1924, to Arvid (Ted) and Mabel (Wilcox) Cederwall in Detroit, Michigan. On December 15, 1951, he married Shirley LaPratt in Lansing, Michigan. Frank graduated from high school in the midst of World War II. As with many of his generation, he entered into service soon afterwards and served until the end of the war. Following his military service, he enrolled at Michigan State. While attending a dance, he meant his wife, and love of 67 years. In 1958, Frank and family , now three children moved from Lansing to Ionia, Mchigan. He worked for the Michigan State employment Security Commission (MESC) from 1958 until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Ionia Presbyterian Church for 25 years and called Zion Methodist his church home for the last several years. He was known by family, friends, and co-workers to have a caring and giving heart. Through the years, he invested his time, finances, and love for God into countless causes and individuals. He opened his home to others as a place for restoration. His faith became the foundation for all his actions. Frank is survived by his wife Shirley; his daughter, Sheryl (Greg) Dennison of Ionia; his son Eric (Rick) Cederwall of Avalon, California; grand-daughter, Amy (Mike) Stump of Rockford; Grandson Kevin (Dan Bready) Dickinson of Key West, Florida; Great-grandsons, Camden and Hudson Stump; his brother Richard (Dick) Cederwall, 95 years old, of Detroit; nephew Marc (Ellen) Cederwall and great-nephew Scott Cederwall of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan; brother-in-law Roger (Holly) LaPratt of Lansing; nephews Brad and Adam LaPratt of Chicago; Marcus (Silva) LaPratt of White lake; Niece Lora (Josh) Goodrich of Chicago. In addition, step-grandchildren that all proudly called him Grandpa...Amber (Jason) Newcomb; Nicholas (Hanan) Dennison; Christopher Dennison (Shelly Darling); Brandon (Julie ) Dennison; Josh (Christina) Stump; and 14 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Gregg Cederwall; his parents; his sister-in-law, Marianne Cederwall; all of his many first cousins; and countless friends that he has blessed and been blessed by. Visitation will be held at Lake Funeral Home, 3521 South State Road, Ionia, Michigan, 48846. The family will be there to receive friends and family from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30. On Thursday, May 31, visitation will again be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m at Zion Methodist Church located at 423 W.Washington, Ionia, Mich.. Funeral services will be held immediately after in the Sanctuary. Burial will be at Balcom cemetery, Tuttle road, Ionia, Mich., at a future date.
