Chamberlain was born in Moravia, NY, Nov. 3, 1831, and died at his home in Berlin Center, Mich., Oct 26, 1901, being 60 years, 11 months and 20 days old. When about thirty years of age he came to Michigan, settling in Berlin Center. He lived an honest, upright, faithful life. A kind father and loving husband, children and wife feel their loss keenly. He was married three times, his first wife, Elizabeth Hagle, leaving one son, Allie, one child dying in infancy. The second wife, Jane Steele, also left one son, Charles. In 1867 he married Mrs. Sarah Lillie, who with two sons, Herbert and Chancey, survives him. One daughter, Pearl, was awaiting her father in heaven. His family was a worthy testimonial to his character. In 1867 he converted under the preaching of Bro. G. C. Draper from Rom. 2:5. He joined the M. E. church and has been a faithful member. The church building at Berlin Center is largely a monument to the patience and perseverance of himself and his wife. He talked salvation to his friends and neighbors until the last. For four years he suffered much from organic heart disease, but bore his suffering patiently. He left a good testimony that all was well and he felt ready to go. The church and community will miss him. Rev. W. Aldrich spoke words of comfort from Rom. 8:18. The church was filled with mourning friends. His pew was draped in mourning. The interment took place at the Saranac cemetery." 2)"Obituary. Aaron R. Chamberlain was born in the state of New York in 1831.
