CHAMBERLAIN, 76, a pioneer of Berlin township, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Cochrun of Berlin township, Sunday evening, January 16 (1938), at 6 o'clock, following a stroke a week ago. He was born in New York state in 1862 and moved to Michigan with his father when he was a small boy. In 1890 he was married to Janie Sherwood who died 17 years ago. For the past 15 years he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Cochrun. He has been a resident of Odessa and Berlin township most of his life and was an active member of the Berlin Center Methodist church. December 27, 1937, he celebrated his 76th birthday and was in fair health at that time. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John Cochrun of Berlin township and Mrs. Harvey Dean of Carson City; three brothers, C. C. Chamberlain of South Ionia, Charles Chamberlain of Orange township and Herbert Chamberlain of Keene; six grandchildren, Dorothy, Roger and Ruth Cochrun of Berlin township, Raymond Cochrun of Carson City, and Phyllis and Robert Dean of Carson City. Another daughter, Mrs. Ezra Cochrun, died April 17, 1923. Funeral services will be held from the Cochrun home Wednesday afternoon, January 19, 15 1:30 o'clock and from the Berlin Center Methodist church at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in the family lot in Balcom cemetery."
