Roger F. Chambers, 84, of Fenwick, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Sheridan 
Community Hospital.   He was born July 11, 1916, in Vickeryville, to Almond H. 
and Vera J. (North) Chambers.  He was married to Thelma C. (Fancett) Chambers 
on Oct. 11, 1935 in Saranac.

Mr. Chambers was a longtime resident of the Fenwick and Ionia areas.  He 
attended Shiloh Community Church.  He was a longtime area farmer, milk hauler, 
worked at the Ionia County Road Commission and retired from the Ionia State 
Hospital.

He is survived by two daughters, Norma J. (Doug) Hogan and Betty L (Jerry) 
Walker, of Fenwick; one son Robert J. (Patricia) Chambers of Fenwick; special 
friend, June Townsend of Fenwick; 10 grandchildren, Brian (Sue) Hogan, Lynne 
Morris and special friend, Mark Canfield, Brad (Brandy) Hogan, Tom (Dot) 
Chambers, Cindy (Ed) Alexander, Sharon (Pete) Mathisen, Andy Walker, Sally 
(Dirk) Finkbeiner, Jeri (Trennon) May and David (Jill) Walker; and 20 great-
grandchildren.

Mr. Chambers was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma C. Chambers, on Dec. 20, 
1996; and a brother, Ronald North.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the 
Stebbins and Simpson Funeral Home at Sheridan.  Funeral services will be at 11 
a.m., Thursday at the Stebbins and Simpson Funeral Home at Sheridan with Pastor 
Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating.  Interment will be at 
Clear Lake Cemetery in Fenwick.  The family suggests memorial consideration to 
either the Shiloh Community Church or the Michigan Heart Association.
