Champlin, 83, died at 5 o’clock Sunday morning after a long illness at his home at 1030 Fifth avenue, Lake Odessa. He was born November 28, 1878 in Alton, the son of Henry and Sophia Gardner Champlain. He came to the Lake Odessa area as a small boy and had spent the remainder of his life in that area. Mr. Champlin was a farmer. He was married November 30, 1899 to Ada Foght and lived on a farm northwest of Lake Odessa 58 years, until his retirement five years ago when they moved to the village and their present residence. He attended Lake Odessa Bible church. Surviving are his wife, Ada; two daughters, Mrs. Carol Enz of Woodland and Mrs. Wayne Richard of rural Sunfield; one grandson and a great-granddaughter. Funeral service will be at Pickens funeral chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. with burial at Lakeside cemetery. The Rev. James Blouw will officiate.
