Donald Charles Champlin Sr., aged 71, went to be with his lord Sept. 21, 2007 
in Lansing.  He was born March 30, 1936 in Lyons Twp. the son of C. Earl and 
Ruth (St. John) Champlin. Donald married Sandra Dean March 30, 1963 in Maple 
Rapids at Sandra's parents home. He was a member of Nazarene Church in 
Portland and was an avid race car driver and owner.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Sandra Champlin of Lyons; 
children Cheri (Doug) Moore of Grand Rapids, Val (Brad) Gardner of Grand 
Rapids, Tom (Amy) Champlin of Grand Rapids, Tim (Lisa) Champlin of Lyons, Don 
(Kathy) Champlin of Muir, Donelda Champlin and John Perrien of Pewamo, Catrina 
Champlin and Ben Fillingham of Lyons and Saundi Champlin of Lyons; sister 
Elaine (Paul) Webster of Lyons; foster brother Dewey Sorkham of California; 
foster sister Mary (Milton) Tenhave of Florida; 23 grandchildren and seventeen 
great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Church of the Nazarene in 
Portland with Rev. Daniel L. Stemen officiating. Interment is at Keefer 
Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Monday 4 to 7 p.m. at 
Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions in 
Donald's name to Church of the Nazarene building fund.
