He was born on Dec. 28, 1946, in Corpus Christi, Texas, the son of Sabastian and Felicita Chapa. Mr. Chapa was a great husband, father and grandfather, who was a hard worker with a big heart. Gilberto was a genuine person who was known for his words of wisdom. He had a love for music, especially his accordion, and enjoyed the sport of boxing, which he did himself in his younger days. Surviving are his wife, Maria “Olga” Chapa; daughter, Margie Chapa (Michael) Winstead, and their children: Jordan S. Moore, Jr., Brittany Moore Doak and John M. Moore; son, Gilberto (Lucie-Mae Adamczak) Chapa Jr., and their children: Chelsie N. Chapa, Anthony R. Chapa and Izzabella G. Chapa; son, Adan (Lorie) Chapa Sr., and their children: Adan Chapa Jr., Royiel Chapa, Destiny Chapa and Alexis Chapa; son, Javier (Yolanda Frontiera) Chapa, and their children: Elyjah Chapa, Jozcelyn Chapa, Jayden Chapa and Jayce Chapa. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Lehman Funeral Homes, 220 Rich St., Ionia, with Pastor Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church presiding. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery, Ionia. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
