Chapin, 80, of 655 West Main died Friday morning at Ionia County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient the past five days. Born November 7, 1893, in Grand Rapids she was the daughter of John and Agnes Verlin Quillan. She had lived on a farm east of Grand Rapids in Kent county and attended the rural school. She also attended college in Kalamazoo and taught grade school several years. In 1918 she was married to Edmund Chapin and lived all her married life on a farm on Kelsey highway. She and her husband celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1968 and he died July 26, 1971. She moved to her present address September 1971. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Esther Klett of Lincoln. She was a member of LeValley United Methodist church and the women’s organization of the church. Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Leddick funeral home. Rev. Lloyd Walker of LeValley United Methodist church will officiate. Interment will be at Tuttle cemetery. A memorial has been established for the LeValley church.
