Mrs. Emma Jane Rodgers Chapin, 91, passed away suddenly Sunday morning at her 
home, in Lake Odessa.  Born near Eaton Rapids April 1, 1852, and married 
Sidney Chapin, of Orange township, in 1872.  The couple had resided in Orange, 
Howard City, Portland and Danby, before going to Lake Odessa 25 years ago.  
Mr. Chapin passed away in 1933.  She was a member of the Rebekah lodge and was 
very active for her age.

Surviving are the son, Melvin of Detroit, and a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Davis 
with whom she lived; one sister, Mrs. Lucy Galloway, of Ionia; eight 
grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Wortley and Baine Chapel, with 
interment in Lakeside cemetery.
