Mrs. David M. Chapin, 93, died Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the home of her 
son, Edmund R. Chapin, of Orange, following an illness of several months.

Annie Dunsmore was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Dunsmore and was born 
February 10, 1851, in Eaton Rapids.  At the age of three she moved with her 
parents to Orange where she had resided most of her life.

October 24, 1869, she was married to David M. Chapin, of Luther, and the couple 
spent the first two years in Lake county and Howard City.  Later, they returned 
to Orange township, to reside on her mother’s farm.  April 5, 1883, they moved 
to the present home where she died.  Mr. Chapin died October 30, 1913.

Mrs. Chapin was a member of the LeValley Methodist church and of the Missionary 
society and the Ladies’ Aid society.

She had made seven trips to California in recent years to visit her son, Sidney 
D. Chapin, of Beverly Hills, and daughters, Mrs. Aura Jessel, of Encinitas and 
Mrs. Muriel Ogden of Hollywood.  Surviving besides the four children are two 
grandsons, Lieut. Elden L. Dilley U.S. Navy, and Leon M. Dilley of Culver City, 
Calif.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Edward Ryerson of Beverly Hills, Calif., and 
Mrs. Harry E. Chesebrough, of Birmingham; also two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Stone 
funeral home, Rev. H. Howard Fuller, pastor of LeValley Methodist church, will 
officiate and burial will be in Tuttle cemetery.
