Chapman died at his home on the farm west of Cooks Corners, Sunday evening, shortly after eight o’clock, after a brief illness. He had been sick for several weeks but not considered to be dangerous, being up and around occasionally. Dr. Stanton was there Sunday evening and left him comfortably settled for the night but was called back by phone in the minutes after he had left, he quickly returned but Mr. Chapman had breathed his last before he arrived at his bedside. The deceased was born in New York State, August 7, 1847, and was married twenty-eight years ago. He came to Michigan in an early day and has lived in Otisco over thirty-five years. Beside his wife, one daughter Mrs. Winnie Nash, a brother Melvin A. Chapman of this city, and one sister Mrs. E.A. Fuller of Grand Rapids, survives him. The funeral was held at the late home at 10 o’clock a.m., Wednesday. Rev. G.W. Maxwell officiated.
