She was born in Pipestone County, Minn., August 5, 1881, the daughter of Danon and Mary Judevine. in 1891 the family moved to Ionia county and settled in Ronald township where her father cleared the land. Mrs. Chapman was a graduate of the Palo high school and attended Ferris Institute. She taught the Dye, Mattison, Ronald Center, and the Palo schools. In 1907 she was married to James M. Chapman, then moved to Calumet where for 13 ˝ years Mr. Chapman was a grade school principal. They moved to Colorado Springs where they lived for 23 ˝ years. In 1943 they returned to their Ronald township home. She was a member of the Palo Methodist church. Surviving are her husband, James; two sons Donald of Lynden, N.J. and Robert of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Vernon of Palo and Frank of Ionia and two granddaughters. The family will be at the funeral home Monday evening from 7 to 9 o’clock. A memorial fund is in charge of Mrs. Carl Wingeler. Mrs. Chapman will be at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home until Tuesday noon then she will be taken to the Palo Methodist church where services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be at Woodard Lake Cemetery.
