Ionia Daily Standard, 26 Apr 1976

Michael R. Chapman, 18, was fatally injured in an accident early Saturday
morning on M-43 and M-50, two miles east of M-66.  He was born May 6, 1957 in
Lansing, the son of William and JoAnn Hewitt Chapman.  He was a 1974 graduate of
Lake Odessa high school and married Cheryl Spalding December 3, 1974, in Ionia,
and lived at 1110 Jordan Lake avenue, Lake Odessa.

Surviving are his wife and one son, Jason, of Lake Odessa; four sisters, Mrs.
Teresa Kerr; Barbara and Jolyn Bunn; and Peggy Smith; three brothers, John Bunn;
James and Michael Smith; mother, Mrs. Glenn Smith, all of Clarksville; father
William Chapman of GlenBurnie, Md.; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Helen Hewitt of
Lansing; maternal grandfather, Neil Hewitt of Tampa, Florida; paternal
grandfather, John Chapman of Florida; great-grandmother, Mrs. Josephine Dargon
of Lansing.

Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 pm at the Pickens-Koops Funeral chapel in Lake
Odessa.  Rev. Elwood Norton will officiate.  Burial will be at the Clarksville
Cemetery.
