Eugene C. Chapman, 65, of Belding passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 
14, 2004 at his home.  He was born May 1, 1938 in Flint, the son of Curtis M. 
and Eunice Bell Gean Chapman.

Eugene served in the U.S. Air Force.  He loved to hunt, fish and ride horses.  
In 1993 Eugene retired from the United Airlines, where he had worked for 38 
years.  On July 11, 1992 he married Theresa “Tess” Zych.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Lou Newton, Joann 
Burrows; and his son, John Chapman, who died while serving in Afghanistan on 
March 4, 2002.  He is survived by his wife, Tess; their children, Kevin and 
Connie Chapman of Colorado, Lori and Kenny Longfritz of Connecticut, daughter-
in-law Valerie Chapman of North Carolina, Tammy and David Klein of Vermont, 
Mary and Steve wolf of Lowell, Floyd and Jennifer Domine of Ionia, Dawn and 
Randy White of Arizona, Emory Domine and friend Chris, Tammy and Jay Congdon, 
all of Belding, Stacy Domine and friend Andrew of Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 
brothers and sisters and their spouses, Duaine and Cathy Gean of Flint, Allan 
and Mary Chapman of Fenton, Dale and Sally Chapman of Pennsylvania, Charlotte 
Riley of Beaverton, Arlene and Robert Newton of Montrose.

Funeral services for Eugene are 3 p.m. Saturday at Smyrna Bible Church with 
Pastor Darwyn Hassert officiating.  Interment is in Otisco Township Cemetery.  
Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral 
Home, Belding.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes 
Association.
