Chapman, a former resident of this place, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Hulbert in Detroit, Sunday morning, April 7; after an illness of two months caused by heart trouble. Ann H. McNelly was born in Lordstown, Trumbull Co., Ohio, June 1, 1857. A few years later moving here with her parents where she attended school at the Tupper school, now known as Bonanza. In 1875 she was united in marriage to Martin L. Chapman, who departed from this life July 22, 1910. She leaves to mourn their loss two daughters, Mrs Nora M. Hurlbut and Mrs. Myrtle Phalen of Detroit; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Cal Loveland of Jackson and other relatives and many friends. She was baptized in the English Lutheran Faith and died in the faith of meeting her Saviour. The body was brought here on the preceding evening train Tuesday and the funeral was held from the Congregational church Wednesday forenoon, conducted by Rev. Prestige, interment in the Lakeside cemetery. Among the relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. C. Loveland of Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Huribut and son Roy, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Phalen, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Partello of Detroit, Bert Smith of Grand Ledge, Mr. and Mrs. Wm Bywater and Mr. and Mrs. Ira Hay of Woodbury and Marcus Chapman.
