March 13, 1975 SERVICES HELD FOR RAY E. CHAPMAN Raymond E. Chapman, 64, of Falls Church, Virginia passed away Thursday, March 6, at the Arlington hospital. He was the son of the late Earl and Jessie Chapman and the brother of David E. Chapman, former publisher of the Lake Odessa wave. He married Kathryn Garvin in Washington D.C. on April 29, 1945. Raymond was born in Kalamazoo. He graduated from Kalamazoo College in 1932, receiving a masters degree there is 1937.He worked for the Kalamazoo Gazette and the Saginaw News newspapers, before going to Washington D.C. in 1943 to work for the State department at home and abroad in Germany and Spain. He retired in 1964 because of ill health. Survivors besides his brother are his wife, Kathryn; one son Raymond Jr., in Washington D.C.; four daughters, Mrs Thomas Dunham of Bayton Beach, Florida and Laureen, Ann and Maureen at home, two grandchildren, Kelly and Thomas Raymond Dunham. Services were held Saturday at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charles Dunbar officiating. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
