Ionia Sentinel Standard, 30 Mar 1931

Mrs. Lydia Chappel, 77, a lifelong resident of Berlin, with the exception of a
few years residence in Saranac, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter
Lee, late Saturday night.  She had been in poor health several years and the
past few months had been gradually failing.  Funeral services will be conducted
from the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock by Rev. J.M. Jensen, pastor of
the LeValley and Berlin Center Methodist Episcopal churches, Mrs. Chappel being
a member of the latter.  Burial will be in Lake Odessa cemetery.

Her maiden name was Aldrich, being a daughter of some of the pioneers of Berlin
Center.  Besides her daughter, she leaves two grandchildren, Mrs. Lyle Anson, of
Plainwell, and Jay Lee, of Ionia, and one great grandchild.
