Lake Odessa Wave - January 26, 1983
          DEVERN H. CHARTER
   LAKE ODESSA, - DeVern H. Charter, 59, of Lake Odessa, died Jan. 8 in Lansing.
   He was born June 24, 1924 in Sumner MI., the son of Dewey and Frances (Stearns)
Charter.
   He married Maxine Ebright, June 24, 1945.  He retired from Oldsmobile in Lansing
Aug. 31, 1982 after 
working there 30 years.  He was a member of Oldsmobile Quarter Century Club,
Hastings Moose Lodge and 
V.F.W. Morley S. Oates Post 701.  He attended Bethany Baptist Church.
   He is survived by his wife, Maxine; two daughters Mrs. Gary (Judy) McDiarmid of
Lake Odessa and Sandi 
Charter of Lansing; one son, Dewey of Lansing; three grandchildren; his mother
Frances Charter of Stanton; 
two sisters Mrs. Dorothy Bennett and Mrs. Jenny Lichty, both of Battle Creek;
several nieces and nephew.
   Services were held Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. from the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home of
Lansing.
   Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
