The Lowell Ledger, February 17, 1916

Marvin L. Chase died at his home in this village Friday, Feb. 11, aged 82 
years, 1 months and 19 days.  Funeral services were held Sunday at 11:30 from 
the home, Rev. L. A. Townsend officiating.  Burial in the South Boston 
cemetery.

Mr. Chase was born in Otsego county, New York, Sept. 20, 1833, and came to 
Charleston, Kalamazoo county, when nine years of age, and in 1860 came to 
Saranac.  His marriage to Mary J. Austin of Boston township took place July 3, 
1862, and they made their home in South Boston until seven years ago when they 
moved to Lowell.  He united with the Methodist church in South Boston about 
thirty years ago.

He is survived by his widow, eight children—Mrs. Milton Rogers, Mrs. Matt 
Laux, Austin, Herbert, Leon, Wayne and Miss Rena Chase, all of Lowell and 
vicinity and Mrs. Burt Randall of Woodbury, N.J., nine grandchildren, five 
great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Marie Lawler of Augusta, Mich., and 
Mrs. Adeline Lewis of Detroit.

Mr. Chase was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed, 
but the family feels that their loss is his gain.

We desire to express our thanks to the friends and neighbors for their kind 
assistance during the sickness and death of our husband and father, also to 
those who furnished the music and flowers.
