Chase Of Muir Dies At His Home Tuesday Lyons Township Pioneer Follows Wife In Death Following close after the death of his wife, George W. Chase, 77, well known resident of Muir, died Tuesday morning as the result of apoplexy. Mrs. Chase died six weeks ago and, it is believed, grief over her death hastened the husband’s death. Mr. and Mrs. Chase were married in April 1876 and settled on the Chase farm where they continued as inseparable companions until a few years ago when failing health caused them to decide to move into the village. He was well and favorably known throughout the township and was a loyal and active member of the Church of Christ at Muir. He was known to be a man who was unswerving in his belief that strict honesty in all of his dealings was the only proper thing and was often referred to as “Honest George” Chase. Surviving him are five children, Mrs. Arthur Case, Ionia; William Chase, Detroit; Mrs. Joseph Hoople, Birmingham; James O. Chase, Muir and Mrs. Fred Hubbard, Detroit. Funeral services are Thursday afternoon from the home at Muir. [Transcriber’s note: There is a notation on the obituary card that he was buried in Muir Oakwood Cemetery.] File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/c/chase29008nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
