Ionia Sentinel - Thursday, April 25, 1895

Charles Chase, who has been sick for some time, died at 1 o'clock Saturday 
afternoon at his home on from street. The funeral services were
held from the M.E. church Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, interment in 
Highland Park. He was 69 years of age, and a member of Wm. H. Borden post, 
and form any years has been a resident of Ionia.

The funeral services o the late Charles Chase were held from the M.E. church 
Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Fully 60 old soldiers of Wm. H. Borden post, 
No. 211, G. A. R. of which deceased was a member, turned out and escorted 
the remains to Highland Park, where they conducted the services. At the 
church Dr. D. F. Barnes officiated. The casket was covered wit flowers, and 
the members of the post who bore the remains were H.B. Grovenstein, Levi 
Strunk, C. J. Cook and Geo. Davis. Deceased served in the late war and was a 
member of Co. D, Twentieth Wisconsin Rebgiment, Nineteenth Army Corps. He 
leaves a wife and four children.

thanks to their neighbors and friends, also to the members of the G.A.R., 
for their kindness during their bereavement, and for the beautiful floral 
tributes.
