Cheney, died at her home at 523 West Washington street at 9 o'clock Wednesday evening, July 8, following an illness since February 6 which had confined her to her bed. Mrs. Cheney was born in Kalamazoo county and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Raymond. She attended the rural schools there and in 1874 was married to D. O. Cheney. In 1875 they moved to Nickleplate where they lived for two years then moved to Ronald township to the place now known as the Henry Cook farm and later to a farm north of the Literary hall. In 1900 they came to Ionia where Mr. Cheney operated a livery barn and later was associated with his son, Ralph Cheney, in a harness shop. Mrs. Cheney was a member of the Ionia Methodist church and a former member of the Ronald grange. Surviving are her husband, one son, R. M. Cheney of Ionia, for grandchildren and four great grandchildren. funeral services will be conducted at the Stebbins funeral home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Mathew W.
