Funeral services for Daniel O. Cheney, of 523 West Washington street, will be
conducted Saturday afternoon, December 31, at the Stebbins funeral home, 530
West Main street, at 2 o’clock.  The Rev. Frederick G. Dunbar, pastor of the
Ionia Methodist Episcopal church, will officiate.  Interment will be made in the
family lot, Highland Park cemetery.

Mr. Cheney died at his home Thursday morning, December 29, at the age of 88,
following an illness of several months.

He was born in New York state, June 22, 1850, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel T.
Cheney.  In the year 1875 he moved on a farm in Ronald township where he lived
several years.  He moved to Ionia in 1901.  While residing in Ionia he operated
a harness shop, located where the former Lampkin clothing store was and also
managed a feed barn where at present the Spencer service station is located.

His wife, the former Emma Raymond, preceded him in death, July 10, 1936. 
Surviving are a son, Ralph Cheney of Portland; four grandchildren and four great
grandchildren.
