Cheney, 59, died at her home 623 West Washington street Saturday morning at 5 o’clock. Mrs. Cheney had been in poor health for several years but had been confined to her bed for the past four weeks. She was born in Noble county, Indiana, May 15, 1877, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wilson. She came to Michigan with her parents in 1882, and settled in Ronald township, where she attended the Palo school. She was married to Ralph Cheney and after residing with her parents in Ronald for a few years they came to Ionia in 1900? where they resided since. She was a member of the Ionia Methodist church and acted as treasurer of the general aid for a number of years; past worthy high priestess of the White Shrine of Jerusalem; past noble grand of Beatrice Rebekah lodge; past regent of the Women of the Moose, and a member of the Queen Esther chapter, Order of the Eastern Star for a number of years. She leaves her husband, four daughters, Mrs. John Haas, Mrs. Glenn Davies and Miss Eleanor Cheney, of Detroit; Mrs. Howard Richards, of Ionia; and four grandchildren, Jacqueline and Nancy Haas, and Connie and Bennie Richards. Funeral services will be held from the home 623 Washington street, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with Rev. M.W. Duffey officiating. Interment will be at the family lot at Highland Park cemetery. ------------ Funeral services were held from the home on West Washington street Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Ralph Cheney, who died Saturday morning following a long illness. Rev. M.W. Duffey conducted the services, and vocal solos were rendered by Mrs. Fred S. Howard. Bearers were Elmer Cowan, Max Marshall, Emery Moore, A.H. Varcoe, Abe Tanner and Charles Bowey. The many floral offerings were in charge of Mrs. Elmer Cowan and Mrs. A.H. Varcoe. Members of the Queen Esther chapter, order of Eastern Star; members of the Beatrice Rebekah lodge and the Women of the Moose attended the services in a body. Interment was at the family lot at Highland Park cemetery. Relatives attending the services from away were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Davies, Jack Haas and Miss Eleanor Cheney, of Detroit; Frank Raymond, of Galesburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Cousin, of Woodland.
