JOHN ROBERT CHERPES 1926-2016
John Robert Cherpes, age 89 of Fenwick, passed away on April 9, 2016 in Grand
Rapids. John was born on Dec. 24, 1926 in Ionia to John and Sophie (Menhart) Cherpes. He 
married Peggy J. Obery on July 29, 1950.

John loved sports, fishing, hunting and motorcycles.

John is survived by seven sons, Danny R. (Catherine) Cherpes of Holland, Michigan,
Randy J. (Peggy) Cherpes, of Ionia, Robin D. (Jody) Cherpes of Lyons, David J.K. Cherpes
of Lyons, Johnathon B. (Patricia) Cherpes of Ionia, Jeffery A. (Cindy) Cherpes of Muir,
James F. (Rosilee) Cherpes of Washington; two daughters, Melissa S. French of Lyons and
Nicole L. Cherpes of Lyons; two sisters, Irene Hyatt of Eaton Rapids and Nancy (Robert)
Wright of Farwell; 26 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death b his father, John Cherpes; mother, Sophie Cherpes; wife
Peggy Cherpes; twin daughters, Joanne M. Cherpes and Julie D. Cherpes; three sisters,
Conelia, Violet, Mary; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 at Lake funeral Home in
Ionia. Rev. Greg Gladding, presiding. Family will be accepting visitors on Tuesday, April 14,
2016 from 4-8 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Memorial donations may be made to the
