Payton Michael Cherpes, of Ionia, aged 6, passed away suddenly August 6, 
2007.  He was born October 8, 2000, the son of Randy and Shannon (Hawkins) 
Cherpes.

Payton was a member of Crystal Lake Community Church. He loved to ride his 
quad and play catch with all his balls and also loved dum dum suckers.

Payton is survived by his loving parents Randy and Shannon Cherpes of Ionia; 
sisters Alexis Cherpes, Cheyenne Cherpes and Hunter Cherpes all at home; 
grandparents Peggy and Randy Cherpes Sr of Pewamo, Donald and Cindy Hawkins of 
Carson City; great-grandparents Betty Phenix of Pewamo, Beverly Wang Pompeii 
and John Cherpes of Pewamo and James Goodman of Florida; great-great-
grandparent Wilma Oberry of Muir and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday 11 a.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia 
with Pastor David John Kingsbury officiating. The family will receive friends 
and family Thursday 2 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. 
Interment at North Plains Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions 
may be made to MPS Society.
