May 13, 2016 GEORGE L. CHICKERING 1929-2016 George L. Chickering, 87, of Fenwick, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016 at home. George was born on March 10, 1929 in Belding, the son of George R. and Blanche (Hotchkiss) Chickering. George graduated from Belding High School with the class of 1946 and then worked at the Raymond & Anderson Ford dealership in Belding as parts manager til 1965. He later worked for the City of Belding with the department of Public Works, fro 1974 til 2008. While with the city, part of his responsibility was for the care and upkeep of RiverRidge Cemetery. He deeply cared for the cemetery and knew how important it was to be kept nice and respected. George's life revolved around two important aspects; work and family. His work ethic and the pride he took in doing a job right was very important to him. He loved his family and was proud of their accomplishments, big and small. He was married on June 22, 1950 in Goshen, Indiana to Marjorie Nielsen. George is loved and survived by his wife Marjorie and their children; George and Linda Chickering of Belding, Vicki Chickering and special friend Fred Peabody of Rhodes, Michigan; his grandchildren; Jesse and Heather Chickering and Nik Chickering; and his great-grandchildren; Mya and Nora. George was preceded in death by his parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and Rollo Kilborn. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Memorial may be given to the Parkinson Foundation or a charity of one's choice. Envelopes will be available at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding where cremation services have been entrusted.
