Cleo Matilda Chickering, 84, of Ionia passed away Tues., Aug. 27, 2002 at her
home  She was born on Oct. 16, 1917 in Saranac, the daughter of Clinton and
Cynthia (Heether) Hayes.  Cleo was married on July 25, 1936 to Alfred Chickering
and he preceded her in death in January of 1985.  She was also preceded in death
by her parents.

She is survived by her children, Colleen (Phil) Feuerstein, Donald (Karen)
Chickering all of Belding, and John (Jean) Chickering of St. Johns; five
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brothers and their spouses, Harold
(Lois) Hayes of Tampa, Fla, and John (Pauline) Hayes of Prague, Okla.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been held.  A memorial gathering will
be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 8 at the Sherwood Forest Community Center
in Ionia.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Alvah N. Belding Library
or the Ionia Area Hospice.  Funeral arrangements were entrusted to
Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.
