She was 75 years of age and was born at Wilma, New York. She was married to J. A. Childs March 9, 1856, at Black River, Jefferson Co., N.Y., his death occurring in 1906. They came to Michigan and settled at Saranac. In 1863 they moved to Lyons and in 1864 came to South Boston, moving to Saranac in the spring of 1866. In 1880 they moved back to South Ionia. Later they moved to Ionia and resided on West Lincoln avenue where they resided until their deaths. Mrs. Childs united with the Methodist church in 1892 during the Updike meetings here. She attended service there until distance and her age made it impossible. She was a faithful mother and leaves four children, Mrs. Emma Conkrite of Chicago, Albert Childs of Ionia, Mrs. Linnie Denitz of Charlotte, and Mrs. Albert Schurr of Ionia.
