Murl N. Childs, 76, of 320 Summit Street, Saranac, died Friday at Pennock
Hospital, Hastings.  Born in Saranac June 8, 1912, he was the son of Norman and
Mattie Middleton Childs.  He was a veteran of World War II, a life member of the
American Legion, and a past member of the Oddfellows.  He was married to Mable
Sutton June 8, 1957; she died Jan. 22, 1983.

Surviving are a stepson Maynard Sutton of Hastings; a step daughter, Dona
Twining of California; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a sister,
Thelma Benjamin of Saranac.  A brother, Harold, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be [unreadable] at 1 p.m., from Lake Funeral Home,
Saranac, with the Rev. Philip Burns of Galilee Baptist Church officiating. 
Burial will be in Saranac Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home
Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m.
