Leaves Wife, Three Children and Thirteen Grandchildren. After a long residence in Odessa township Frederick Chorley died at his home west of town Monday, May 4, after being confined to his bed only a few days. Mr. Chorley was a quiet home loving man, greatly respected by all who knew him. He was a kind and accommodating neighbor and his death was a surprise to his many friends. Obituary Frederick Chorley was born in Somersetshire, England on June 12, 1859, and departed this life at his home in Odessa township, Ionia county, on May 4, 1931, at the age of 71 years, ten months and 22 days. At the age of 15 he came with his parents to Fulton, N.Y. On February 5, 1883, he was united in marriage to Miss Susie Thompson and to this union were born five children, one daughter who died in infancy, Mrs. Hattie Wheelock who passed away in 1918, Mrs. Sadie Gundel of Millbrook, Mich., William J. of Clarksville, and Frank E. who lives at home. In 1884 he moved to Cooper, Mich., where he lived three years then coming to Ionia county, and has lived in Odessa township the past 38 years. He was of a cheerful disposition always seeing the bright side, a devoted husband, a kind and loving father and ever ready to lend a helping hand. Besides his wife and three children he leaves to mourn thirteen grandchildren, three sisters Mrs. Anna Silsby of Valrico, Fla., Mrs. Eliza Newhouse and Mrs. Albenia Gould of Ihon?, N.Y., and three brothers William of Franklin, Mass., James of Parish, N.Y., and Beadon of Courtland, N.Y., besides other relatives and a host of friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. “He bade no one a last farewell; He said goodby to none. The heavenly gates had opened – A loving voice said come.” The funeral was held at the home Thursday, a former friend of the family preaching the sermon and the burial was in Lakeside cemetery. Those from away to attend the funeral of Frederick Chorley were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gundel and two sons of Millbrook; Robert Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Orr of Plainwell; Mr. and Mrs. William Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Thompson and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Sowers and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Shores and family, Mr. and Mrs. James Woodcock, Frank Ryder, D.L. Garfield and wife of Lowell; Charlotte Johnson, Nellie VanKeeiken, Nellie Scott, Mrs. E. McDonald, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Woodcock, Harold Wheelock, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Giltema of Grand rapids; Mr. and Mrs. David Sowers and family of Belding; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wheelock and family, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Reed of Saranac; Mr. and Mrs. Ford Carr of Freeport; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Gundel and daughter of Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. John Kimble of Blanchard.
