He was 77. Born in Denmark, Oct. 18, 1871, he came to Michigan at the age of 19. He was married August 21, 1859 to Pauline Bluemly of Easton township. He had lived in Ionia for the past 31 years, and for the past 27 years at his home on Harter street. Christensen was employed by the Ionia Manufacturing company for 22 years prior to his retirement in 1944. He and Mrs. Christensen, who survives him, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Aug. 21, 1945. He was a member of the First Methodist church of Ionia. Surviving, in addition to his widow, are one son, Ivan P. of Detroit, one daughter, Mrs. Lillian J. Lambert of Brememhaven, Germany whose husband is a major in the U.S. Army of occupation; one sister, Mrs. Louise Rover of Denmark, three grandchildren and 21 nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be from the Boynton funeral home, Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Howard Smith officiating. Interment will be in the family lot in Easton cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday to receive friends. ---- Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2:30 p.m. from Boynton’s funeral home for Peter Christensen, 77, of Harter street who died Thursday evening at the Ionia Convalescent home on North Jackson street. Dr. Howard A. Smith officiated. Interment was in Easton cemetery. Bearers were Justus Christensen, Arnith Christensen, Floyd Stahl, Leonard Miller, Harry Whipple, and Sam Keller. Out of town persons attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Ivan P. Christensen, Miss Nancy Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Don Long and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Vise of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Arnith Christensen and family of Lansing, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stahl, Clarksville; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dietrich of Palo; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Olmstead of Ludington, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Meirs of Howard City; Roy Meirs of Grand Ledge, Mrs. Nina Christensen and Mrs. Louise Gladding of Elm Hall.
