Ionia Sentinel Standard - 

Doris Belle (Conklin) Christensen, 91, died on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013 at her 
home in Belding, surrounded by her family. She was born in Clarksville, Mich., 
to Claude and Leone (Tuthill) Conklin on Aug. 20, 1922.

She married Robert W. Christensen on march 21, 1942. They lived and worked on 
her parent's farm on McKendry Road in Belding for  many years and around 1964 
built their home on Belding Road. Doris also worked at Jolly Kid in Belding 
until they closed the doors and then went to work at Gibson Refrigeration until 
her retirement in 1980.

She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, Doric Chapter #75 and the 
Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; and her sister, 
Nola Butcher.

She is loved and survived by her children, Gary R. (Debbie) Christensen of 
Ionia, Gale (Bonnie) Christensen of Belding and Jerry Blaine (Camille) 
Christensen of Greenville; grandchildren; Timothy (Vicki) Christensen, Gavin 
Christensen, Jay (Barbara) Christensen, Michelle (Matthew) Castle, Eric (Kelly) 
Christensen and Robyn Christensen; great-grandchildren, Mattelynn Castle, 
Michaela Castle, Henry Castle, Owen Christensen, Jackson, Jaelyn and Madison 
Christensen.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Johnson-
Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Visitation 
will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Committal prayer will follow at 
Easton Township Cemetery on Johnson Road.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Michigan 
(Belding/Ionia Area) or OES Doric Chapter #75. Messages of condolences may be
