Ionia Sentinel Standard, 7 Jan 1982

Justus (Pike) Christensen, 79, of Harter St., Ionia, died late Tuesday afternoon
in Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids.  Born in Easton Township on August 24,
1902, he was the son of Fuller and Nancy (Beadle) Christensen.  He attended
rural schools and then attended Ionia High School, graduating from there in
1921.  He then attended Michigan State University.

He worked at the Ypsilanti Reed Furniture Company for 14 years, and then worked
as a cashier at the Michigan Reformatory.  He retired from the Reformatory in
1965, after working there for 28 years.

He married Clara Roman on June 10, 1927, at SS. Peter and Paul Church in Ionia,
and they made their home in Ionia all their married lives.  They celebrated
their golden wedding anniversary in 1977.

He was a member of the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Michigan
Reformatory Retiree’s Club, and Ionia Fishing and Hunting Club.

He is survived by his wife Clara, 2 sons, Max of Ada and Richard of Lansing; 3
grandchildren; 1 brother, Arneth of Van Nuys, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Louisa
Gladding of Hart, Mich.

Funeral mass will be recited at 1 p.m. Friday from SS. Peter and Paul Church,
with the Rev. Henry Dondzilla officiating.  Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery. 
A scriptural wake service will be Thursday at 7:30 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral
Home of Ionia.  The family will receive friends at the home Thursday from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m.  A memorial fund has been established for the SS. Peter and Paul
Church, in the care of the funeral home.
