HOYT CHRISTENSEN 1926-2016
Hoyt Christensen, age 90, of Ionia, MI, passed away Dec. 11, 2016. He was born May
14, 1926 in Orleans township, MI. the son of Raymond and Lelah (Towne) Christensen.

Hoyt served in the Army during World War II. After the service, he drove truck for 
Hausserman trucking. He hauled mail, apples and salt amongst other things. Hoyt
farmed all his life as well as worked as a corrections officer for 37 years until retiring
in 1986. He was active in the union for Department of corrections.

Hoyt raced midget cars, pulled tractors and enjoyed mechanics and fixing things.

Hoyt is survived by his children, Cindy (Pat) Templeton of Stanwood, MI., Eric
Christensen of Ionia, Tracye Mccauley of Ionia, Lisa (Geoff) Miller of Oklahoma, Jack (Laurel) 
Christensen of Rockford, MI., Robin Hayden of Saranac, Ronald Brinkman of Lansing, '
brother Richard (Marilynn) Christensen of Florida; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-
grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lester; and sister,
Joyce White.

Funeral services for Hoyt will be held on Friday, Dec. 16, 11 a.m. at Lake funeral
Home in Ionia with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-6
p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.lakefuneralhomes.com
