Mrs. Chauncey Christian, a former resident of Ionia, but for the past five years or more living in Lansing, died at her home there early Wednesday morning, following an illness that had persisted for the past year. Mr. and Mrs. Christian formerly lived south of Ionia and for 29 years Mr. Christian was the farmer at the State hospital. They moved to Lansing about six years ago and have lived there since. Besides her husband, Mrs. Christian leaves two daughters, Mrs. Frank Perrett and Mrs. George Coe, of Ionia, and a son Earl of Lansing. She was about 88 years of age. The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Church of Christ here. Ionia Sentinel Standard – Saturday, 6 June 1925: The funeral for Mrs. Chauncey Christian, of Lansing, was held at 2 o’clock Friday at the Church of Christ and was attended by a large number of friends and relatives. The service was conducted by Rev. Mark L. Marshall, of Lansing, a former Ionia minister, assisted by Rev. M. S. Decker, of Ionia. The bearers were the six nephews of deceased, Lee Alvord, of Grand Rapids; Frank Smith, of Plymouth; Jack Wallace, Frank Hale, John Keorher and Harold Stamm, all of Detroit The music was by Mrs. George Fox and Mrs. R. A. Colwell. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Dan Patrick, Mrs. William Schipper, Mrs. Ray Monks and Miss Linn Hinds. Relatives and friends from Plymouth, Detroit, Belding, and Grand Rapids were present. She was laid to rest in the Balcom cemetery amid a profusion of beautiful flowers.
