Arlene L. Christianson, age 70, of Ionia, passed away Feb. 8, 2008 in Ionia.  
She was born Jan. 16, 1938 in Hibbing, Minn., the daughter of Elias and Pearl 
(Sanders) Christianson.  She was a Volunteer Coordinator for the Red Cross 
Blood Drives, volunteered during election times and was active with Lyons-Muir 
Church.

Arlene is survived by her children, Brenda and Brian Cowling-Cronk of Ionia, 
Pam Cowling and Jon Gazella of Ionia, Candace Cowling and Klaas Kwant of 
Comstock and Chris and Debbie Cowling of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Brian, 
Jessica, Catherine, Zoe, Breana, Elijah and Leah; great-grandchildren, 
Michaela, Jacob, Gavin, Gabi, Lily, Garrett and Emerson; special cousin, 
Virginia Samson of Hibbing and special friend, Serene Lee-Frisk of Hibbing.  
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Lewlyn.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Lyons-Muir Church with 
Pastor Bert Nelson officiating.  The family will receive friends and relatives 
Tuesday 6:30 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to service at Lyons-Muir Church.  
Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.  In lieu of flowers contributions 
may be made to American Red Cross Blood Services.  There will be a blood drive 
Feb. 20 at KC Hall in Ionia.
