CHRISTIE DEAD This Esteemed Ionian Finally Succumbs to Consumption. John B. Christie died at 6:30 o'clock Wednesday, at his home, 356 Lafayette street. He had been confined to the house for four months, the fatal disease of consumption finally claiming its reward. Mr. Christie was born in Dundee, Scotland, March 10, 1848, and on Nov. 27, 1870, was married at Fort Wayne, Ind., to Mrs. Christine who, with three children survive him. Of the union there were three sons, Charles, now located at Ft. Scott, Kas,; Will, who died in June 1897, and Walter, of this city, 18 years of age; also one, daughter, Miss Mamie, 15 years of age. Mr. Christie was a man highly esteemed by every Ionian. For a number of years he was foreman of the machine works at the Pere Marquette shops, having lived in Ionia for 13 years past. He was an honorable, upright citizen, whose death is greatly deplored. Mr. Christie was a member of the A. O. U. The great bereavement of the family is fully realized by their many friends, who extended sympathy in their sad hour. The funeral will be held Sunday. It is the only way we can reach all. Words or space cannot express our kind feeling for those who showed so much kindness and sympathy in our sad bereavement. We kindly thank the Ancient Orders of United Workmen and the Court of Honor and the employees of the car shops for their kindness.
