IONIA- Ethel Christopher of Ionia died Monday at the Ionia County Memorial 
Hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Roetman 
Funeral Home.


Wednesday, August 7, 1985
IONIA- Ethel Cleo Christopher, 88, of 530 West Main Street, Ionia died 
Monday evening at Ionia County Memorial Hospital.

Born April 1, 1897, in Markle, Ind., she was the daughter of Rufus and Nancy 
Wire Hyser. She attended schools in Huntington, Ind., came to Ionia in 1912, 
and was married to Frederick Christopher on April 21, 1913, in Ionia. They 
made their home in the 500 block of West Main Street all their married life. 
He preceded her in death in 1935.

She was formerly employed by Ypsilanti-Reed Furniture Co. and retired from 
A.O. Smith in 1965.

She is survived by a son, Frederick, of Ionia; and a daughter, Mrs. Jack 
(Betty) Fox of Flint; seven grandchildren and eight grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Roetman Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and 
from 7 to 9  p.m.

a memorial has been established for the Ionia County Commission on Aging, in 
care of the funeral home.
