The Lake Odessa Wave, August 21, 1903
Mrs. Harriet Chronister, who has lived with an aged brother on a little farm 
west of town for a long time, died at the home of Mrs. Whitney in northeast 
Castleton township, last Thursday morning.  The remains were brought to the 
village Sunday afternoon and the funeral held from the U.B. church.  Rev. 
Dutler preached the funeral sermon.  Her remains were interred in Lakeside 
cemetery.  

Mrs. Chronister was 84 years of age at her death, and has been in poor health 
for some time.  The aged brother, Edwin Nye, who has been her companion for 
some time, was taken to the home of a sister at Reed City, the first of the 
week, and Mrs. Chronister taken to the home of Mrs. Whitney, it being thought 
advisable to break up the lonely home, as they could then be better cared for 
by their friend and relatives
