Marvel J. Church Passes Away Monday

Marvel J. Church, 79, of Route 1 Saranac, Berlin Township, died at his home 
early Monday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Church had spent the winter with their daughter and husband, Mr. 
and Mrs. Arnold Simson of Pontiac, and had returned home Sunday.

Born May 4, 1890, in Campbell Township, he was the son of Calvin and Huldah 
Church. He married Edith Durkee, June 29, 1910, and had lived at his present 
residence the past 25 years.

For several years he was employed at Fisher Body plant in Pontiac.

A member of the Berlin Center United Methodist Church and had been choir 
director for several years.

Surviving are his wife, Edith; daughter, Mrs. Simpson of Pontiac; two sons, 
Robert of Kalkaska and Bruce of Rochester; seven grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Stone-Kauffman Funeral Home 
in Ionia. Rev. Luther Brokaw officiated. Burial was in Clarksville Cemetery.
