Churchill, 84 years old and for 83 years a resident of Ionia county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. A. Joslin, Friday. Mrs. Churchill spent the greater part of her life in Orange township, moving from there to south Ionia 11 years ago, and from there with her daughter to Lyons in 1920, at which place she died. Funeral services were held from the home, Monday Nov. 28th, Rev. Chas. Nease officiating. Interment in Highland Park cemetery, Ionia. Since 1888 she was affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Ionia and until failing health made it impossible for her to do so, she was a regular attendant at its services. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. E. A. Joslin, of Lyons, and three step- children, Percy Churchill of Ionia, Mrs. Ella Payne of North Dakota, and Mrs. Ida Divine of Pontiac, Mich. Mrs. Sarah M. Churchill was born in Steubin Co, New York, Dec. 8, 1837, and died in Lyons, Mich., Nov. 25, 1921, aged 83 years, 11 months, and 22 days. She was brought by her parents to Michigan when she was about one year old. In her eighteenth year, 1855, she was united in marriage to Mr. Norman Cornell, and to them were born three children; one daughter, Mrs. Dora A. Joslin, now living and in whose home she passed from this life; Floyd Cornell, who died in his 24th year, and Hiram Chauncy Cornell, who died two years ago, in his 63rd year. Mr. Cornell died in 1887, and on the 2nd of Deb. 1897 she was united in marriage to Mr. Otis Churchill. Mrs. Churchill leaves to mourn their loss, one daughter, Mrs. Dora A. Joslin, a step son, Percy Churchill, two step-daughters, Mrs. Ella Payne, of North Dakota, and Mrs. Ida Divine of Pontiac, Mich., and two granddaughters, Mrs. Ethel Myers of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Eva Warren of Ionia, also two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Eva Waterbury of Ionia, and Mrs. Edward Warren, of North Plains, and many friends. Mrs. Churchill was converted in Ionia in 1888 and joined the Baptist church there, and remained a faithful member of that church until the time of her death.
