He was born Jan. 28, 1919 in Mississippi, the son of Johnie Porter and Nellie E. (McRight) Gilchrist Clack. He came to Michigan in 1929 with his family and graduated from Lyons High School. He married Donna Marcella Randall Jan. 11, 1939 in Ionia. He served in the CC Camp during the Depression and worked for the Department of Mental Health for 27 years. He was also an avid antique collector and an amateur archeologist. He is survived by his wife, Donna; two daughters: Mary Davis and Donna (Tony) Carrera, of Orleans; five sons: James (Kaye) Clack, of Morley, David Clack, of Orleans, Joseph (Carol) Clack, of Saranac, Brian (Kim) Clack, of Ionia and Johnie P. (Willie) Clack III, of Clarksville; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers: Howard Clack, of Ionia; Clifford “Skip” (Erma) Clack, of Wyandotte and Henry P. (Ellen) Clack, of Ionia; two step-sisters: Edna Roundtree and Mary (Art) Fisher, of Portland; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 28 at Balcom Cemetery in Ionia. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
