Mrs. Harriet Clark, aged 81 years, died late Monday night following a stroke which she suffered the Friday previous. Death occurred at her home on Brush street where she had lived for the past 48 years. Funeral services will be held at the home, Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock, in charge of Rev. W. L. Moore. Burial will take place in Portland cemetery. Mrs. Clark’s maiden name was Harriet Green and she was born in Portland township, one mile this side of Collins, on the place now known as the Bert Sears farm in 1843, residing in this vicinity continuously since her birth. In 1862 she was married to John Clark who passed away 30 years ago. She was a member of the Congregational church and the Portland W. R. C. Three children survive, Mrs. Etta Whitman, of Portland; Mrs. B. D. Cole, of Jackson, who has been here for the past three weeks, and John Clark, of Lansing. Two brothers and two sisters also survive. They are: Norton Green, of Portland; Alfred Green, of Grand Ledge; Mrs. Harry Randall, of Lyons, and Mrs. Joseph Sutton, of Mt. Pleasant.
