Alexander F. Clark, son of Alanson B. Clark, died at 7:30 this morning. He was born in Ionia 53 years ago the 30th of December last, and his entire life was passed here. His father and grandfather were pioneer residents, his grandfather locating the first iron foundry in Ionia, and being widely known as “Cast Iron” Clark. Alexander F. was stricken with paralysis August 31, 1912, and had not been able to attend to business since. He enquired for the paper last evening, and when his wife returned he was unconscious, having suffered another stroke, affecting the other side. He entered business as a jeweler about 35 years ago, and had been in the same up to the time of his death. He was personally one of the most likable of men, of strict integrity, and universally esteemed. He was married July 4, 1887, to Miss Emma Whitney, daughter of the late Geo. F. Whitney. No children were born to them. His near surviving relatives are his mother, 76 years old, and his brother, Seymnur Clark, who has been in charge of his business most of the period covered by his disability. Funeral Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, at the home on Hackett St., services by Mrs. Effie Field Joslin of Grand Rapids. Interment Oak Hill. Friends please omit flowers.
