She was born Aug. 22, 1910 in Corunna, and moved to Ionia shortly afterwards. She graduated from the Ionia High School in 1928 and from Davenport Business College in 1932. Theo married Ray Clark in Ionia on Aug. 6, 1932. He preceded her in death September of 1951. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Ionia where she taught Sunday School and was Superintendent of the primary department for over 40 years. She was a life member of the order of Eastern Stars having been Worthy Matron several times, Ionia County President and a Grand Representative of the Grand Chapter of Michigan, Order of Eastern Stars. She retired from the State of Michigan after 40 years of service. When younger, she played basketball, tennis, golf and was a member of the Michigan State Girls Class A Softball Team. In 1936, she was a member of the Michigan State Class A championship softball team. Theo is survived by her son, Roger (Terri) Clark of Saranac; daughter-in-law, Darla Clark of Saranac; grandchildren, Aaron and Scott Clark and Mary Beth (Charles) Graves; great grandson, Anthony Graves; sister Doris Sparague of Ionia; several nieces and nephews, and cousins; and family friend, Judy Baylis of Ionia. She was preceded in death by her son Doug in 2008; two brothers, Andy and Fred; and two sisters, Thelma and June. At Theo’s request, cremation has taken place and a family service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Theo’s name to First Christian Church of Ionia or Ionia Area Hospice. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
