The Ionia County News, Thursday, December 28, 1944
Mrs. Nettie L. Clark, 61, Saranac, daughter and housekeeper for Hiram T. 
Johnson, was instantly killed in a truck-auto crash near Benton Harbor at 4:00 
o’clock Wednesday afternoon.  Mrs. Clark was returning from a Christmas visit 
to Chicago.  Albert Houserman, of Berlin township, was driver of the car in 
which Mrs. Clark was riding.  Houserman, slightly injured, was returned to his 
home.  A blinding snow storm caused the accident.

The body was removed to the Morse funeral home, Saranac.  Funeral will be at 
2:30 Sunday afternoon from the Johnson home.  N. S. Johnson, also of Saranac, 
was a brother of the deceased.
