June 10, 2016 BOBBIE JEAN CLEM 1934-2016 Bobbie Jean Clem, age 82 of Belding, formerly of Six Lakes, passed away on June 8, 2016 at Fountain View of Lowell under the care of her loving family and Hospice. She was born on May 14, 1934 in Tennessee, the daughter of Gilbert and Beulah (Vickers) LaFever. She graduated high school in Batesville, Ohio, and continued her education throughout her life earning certifications in cosmetology and real estate. She married Phillip Dines and started her family having five children with him. She later married George Sparks and took on his children to raise as her own. George preceded her in death in 2005, and she married Walter "Leroy" Clem, who preceded her in death in 2012. Bobbie had a vibrant personality, loved to paint and was accomplished in the Bob Ross style, even teaching classes to others,. She loved to travel to northern Michigan and to visit family and friends wherever they may be. She was an active member of the Ionia Seventh Day Adventist Church for many years, taught Sunday School, and was active in many other programs there. Following that, she was a member of New Life United Methodist Church in Six Lakes for several years while living there. She worked for many years at the Lyons-Muir Chrysler plant, working her way up to the supervisory level of the upholstery sewing department, sold real estate for Carriage House realty and operated a beauty salon out of her home for many years. She was an avid gardener, was an active member of the Belding Area Arts Council and was a great story teller. Bobbie will be dearly missed by her children, Sandra (Mike) Blount, Larry Dines, Linda (Jeff) Winters, Tamara (Gary) Youngs, and Sherri (Bob) Hughes; her grandchildren Heather (Dave) Zeoli, Jeremiah (Erica) Dines, Daniel (Nicole) Dines, Joshua (Jennie) Dines, Tara Dines, Brittland (Kyle) Dekorver, Minzy (Zachary) Keeley, Mark (Amber) Youngs, Mandy (Christopher) German, Bobby (Dr. Kristi DeMock) Hughes and John (Jade) Hughes; 17 great-grandchildren; her step-grandchildren Michael Clem, Cheryl (Bob) Norwood, Ronald (Grace) Clem, Shirley Clem, Rebecca Sparks, Matthew (Shilah) Sparks, and Anthony (Linda) Sparks; many step-children and great grandchildren; her siblings, Wilma Larson, Naomi (Roy) Pierce, J.C. (Evelyn) LaFever, Charles (Melba) LaFever and Janet (Richard) Thurston; a sister-in-law Lenore LaFever; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by a brother Willie LaFever. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, at 2:30 p.m. at Verdun family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge St., Belding with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. The family will greet visitors from 1 p.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will follow the service in the Community Room at the funeral home and private interment rites will take place at River Ridge Cemetery in Belding. Those considering an expression of sympathy are welcome to consider a contribution in Bobbie's memory to the Belding Area Arts Council.
