OSCAR CLEMENS DIED SUDDENLY FRI. Leaves Many Sorrowing Friends. Funeral at M.E. Church largely Attended Sunday. Mrs. Oscar Clemens was stricken while attending a beach-party with the family on Eagle Point, Thursday evening. She was taken immediately to her home where she passed away at two o'clock on Friday morning. Relatives and friends were shocked with the grief and the whole community was surprised for she was been in her usual health, and during the evening had been very happy. The shock to the community was the greater because it was the second sudden death that had occurred within three days. OBITUARY Emma J. Jackson was born in Burch Run, Saginaw County, Michigan, on August 2, 1867, and was sixty years and one month of age at the time of her death. With her parents she moved to Ionia county, when five years of age. She was united in marriage to Oscar Clemens on April 15, 1866. They began housekeeping at Lowell. A little later they moved to Belding and finally to the present home south of Lake Odessa, where they made their permanent residence. To Mr and Mrs Clements were born three children, a daughter Murl and a son Paul, who died in infancy, and one daughter, Vera, now Mrs. Arthur Klopfenstine. She is survived by her husband, her daughter and two grandchildren, Glendull and Gaylord. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Gen. Pearse, five sisters, Mrs Lizzie Bacheldor, Mrs May Sedore, Mrs Ettie Knapp, Mrs Alice Glliland and Mrs Myrtle Gilliland, and two brothers, Ray and Roy Jackson, besides many other relatives and friends. Thirty-seven years ago Mrs.Clemens was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, in whose fellowship she took delight and where she labored faithfully until her health began to fail a few years ago. She was also a faithful member of the Royal Neighbors. Mrs. Clements was a woman of loving, motherly disposition. She delighted in being helpful to others, especially to the sick and needy. In all her relationships of life she greatly endeared herself to those who were associated with her. Her kindly helpful ministries will be greatly missed. No time for a last farewell, No time for the shock of fear, Scarcely moment's halt on the shore, With the guide and the boatman near-Dear, how surprised you were to go, With Little to suffer and little to know. Only a moment of dark, A dream of the fleeting night, And then the beautiful bread of day, And the quiet peace of light; And you found yourself on the golden strand, In the glory of the Fatherland. The funeral was held at Central Methodist church Sunday afternoon and was largely attended by many friends and relatives. The sermon was by her pastor, Rev. O.F. Bulman and the singing by Mrs and Mrs. Chas. Nash of Clarksville. Burial was at Lake Side cemetery. CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank the many relative, friends and neighbors, also the Rebekahs and Royal Neighbors for all the services rendered us including baking, flowers, and cars at the time of the death of our dear wife and mother. We also thank the pastor, Rev. Bulman for his comforting words and Mr and Mrs Charles Nash for the singing. Oscar Clemens Mr and Mrs Arthur Klopfenstine and sons Glendull and Gaylord.
